What inspired you to become a teacher?
As a young child, I always loved playing school. Once I started school, I loved it! I loved all my teachers in elementary school, and I believe that they truly inspired me to become a teacher. I can’t imagine doing anything else!

What do you find most rewarding about your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is building relationships with students and their families. I have been able to teach siblings of former students, and I have loved getting to develop stronger relationships with families. Living in the community where I teach also allows me to connect with students long after they leave elementary school. It is rewarding to see previous students all grown up living their life as successful citizens of our community.

How do you elevate the excellence in your classroom?
I elevate the excellence in my classroom by starting out each year building relationships with my students. I want all students to enter my room each day feeling loved and safe. My goal is for them to feel like they can achieve anything if they work hard and are determined. I work to build their confidence and celebrate their successes as they progress. I show up each day giving my best to my students knowing that it will make a huge impact on their success.
